MAZDA Tire Pressure Guide

2020 Mazda CX-9

Your Mazda, like any other vehicle, needs to be maintained every now and again in order to run its best on the Plymouth roads, and this includes making sure that you keep an eye on its tire pressure. What is the right tire pressure amount for your Mazda vehicle? Since the recommended tire pressure amount varies for each Mazda vehicle, take a look at our Mazda tire pressure guide from Morrie's Minnetonka Mazda, and visit our service center for all of your tire-care and general service needs.

MAZDA Tire Pressure Guide by Vehicle Model

Since different Mazda vehicles have different recommended tire pressure amounts, we’ve put together a helpful guide to show you how much tire pressure you should have for your Mazda. Take a look at our guide to see if your tires are under or over-inflated:

  • MAZDA3 Tire Pressure: 36 PSI
  • MAZDA6 Tire Pressure: 36 PSI (for 17-inch tires) / 35 PSI (for 19-inch tires)
  • MAZDA CX-3 Tire Pressure: 36 PSI (for front tires) / 33 PSI (for rear tires)
  • MAZDA CX-30 Tire Pressure: 36 PSI
  • MAZDA CX-5 Tire Pressure: 34 PSI (for 17-inch tires) / 36 PSI (for 19-inch tires)
  • MAZDA CX-9 Tire Pressure: 36 PSI (for 18-inch tires) / 34 PSI (for 20-inch tires)
  • MAZDA MX-5 Miata Tire Pressure: 29 PSI

How to Check Your MAZDA Tire Pressure

Now that you’ve glossed through our Mazda tire pressure guide, you hopefully have a better idea of how much air pressure should be in your tires. If you’re unsure about whether your Mazda tires are low, here’s an easy way to check your Mazda vehicle’s tire pressure:

  1. Park at a local Maple Grove gas station or somewhere with level ground.
  2. Take off the valve cap from the tire.
  3. Grab a tire gauge, and press it over the opening on the tire.
  4. If the gauge reads that your tire’s pressure is low, then use an air compressor or air hose to fill your tire to the appropriate amount.
  5. If the gauge reads that your tire pressure is high, then push the metal piece in the center of your tire to release air until it’s at the correct amount.
  6. Put the tire valve cap back on the tire.

If you don’t have a tire gauge, then order one online from our parts store at Morrie's Minnetonka Mazda.

How to Reset Your MAZDA Tire Pressure Light

Your Mazda tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) is another way you can keep an eye out for your tire’s air pressure levels. Your Mazda tire pressure light will flash when your tires don’t have the right amount of air pressure. After you get the right amount of air in your tires, your tire pressure light may still flash. This is quite common, and the solution is pretty simple.

Here’s how to reset your Mazda tire pressure light:

  1. Park your car, and wait for a bit so that the tires can cool.
  2. Turn on your car’s ignition without actually starting the engine.
  3. On the left of the steering wheel, you should find a button that says “set”. Press down on this button, and hold it until the warning light flashes twice and beeps once.

If you’re unsure of where the reset button is, consult your owner’s manual, and if your Mazda tire pressure light is still flashing even after performing these steps, then schedule a visit to our service center in Minnetonka.
