2017

For 2017, the Mazda3 gets a comprehensive styling refresh and a thorough infusion of new technology including blind spot monitoring and lane keep assist, as well as new full-color, high-definition information screens in the instrument cluster. An electronic parking brake is also available on the higher trim models. To improve handling and create a smoother ride, the 2017 Mazda3 is now available with “G-Vectoring Control” software that can make small adjustments to engine power to the wheels during cornering.

The base Sport model includes 18-inch alloy wheels, a 7.0-inch touchscreen MazdaConnect infotainment system, and a rearview camera, plus LED headlights, cloth seats, and trailer stability assist. The mid-level Touring trim features a larger 8.0-inch touchscreen, leather seats with power controls for the front seats, blind spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert, automatic emergency braking, and a power liftgate. The upper trims offer a 12-speaker Bose premium audio system, a head-up display and navigation, as well as 20-inch wheels, soft Nappa leather surfaces, memory controls for the driver’s seat, and signature LED grille lighting.

There are no major powertrain changes to the Mazda3 for 2017, meaning the 2.0-liter inline-4 still produces 155 horsepower and 150 lb-ft of torque while a 2.5-liter inline-4 is still making 184 horsepower and 185 lb-ft of torque. Each engine comes with a choice of a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission.

2018

The Mazda3 is largely unchanged for 2018, although the Touring trim is now only available with the larger 2.5-liter inline-4 engine now. All 2018 models also now feature forward collision warning and automatic emergency braking as standard.

The base Sport trim includes 16-inch allow wheels, a backup camera, and a 7.0-inch MazdaConnect infotainment system with Bluetooth and a 6-speaker audio system. The Touring trim comes with 18-inch alloy wheels, heated leatherette front seats, dual-zone climate control, keyless start and entry, as well as blind spot warning. Go for the top-level Grand Touring trim if you want LED headlights and fog lights, leather seats, a head-up display, and a Bose audio system. Navigation can be added with the Premium Equipment package as well, or as a standalone accessory with the Sport and Touring trims.
